There will also be an in-depth interpretation of CSAR and regulatory trends in China called ‘Introduction of CSAR and its highlight on China ingredient regulations’. Understanding CSAR’s main guidelines and
what brought about these changes, as well as the new regulation’s immediate impact has never been more vital for those targeting the Chinese beauty market, and this will be explained in detail during the session led by REACH24H Consulting Group. Trends in China – and other regional
markets – will also be explored in a session focusing on K-Beauty, C-Beauty, J-Beauty, and T-Beauty. The discussion will examine the latest developments in the country as well as delving into what makes other key markets such as Korea, Japan, and Thailand tick. This will include a deep dive into the distinctive features and changes in terms of products, ingredients, marketing tools, consumer behaviour, and influences from COVID-19. Also looking at the beauty industry from a
geographical perspective, The NPD Group will review the global makeup outlook and NPD trends to watch. Using actual retail data and industry expertise, the discussion will explore global beauty trends and regional differences in performance between North America, Europe, and China. It will also analyse the makeup category performance in the USA, the region that drives makeup trends, to help identify opportunities for growth around the world. Other topics also set to be covered
throughout the three-day programme include ageless beauty, led by Malyn Ungsurungsie, technical director at S&J International Enterprises PCL, which will look at how the sector is evolving, and what impact a rapidly ageing region has on innovation and purchasing behaviour. The future of Halal beauty will uncover how
brands are innovating, strategies to obtain certification and whether being ‘Halal’ is a purchase-driver? Presented by Dewi Rijah Sari, expert consultant at DRS Consulta, it will also look at future opportunities to expand cruelty- free, vegan, and organic product innovations in a sustainable way, as well as appealing to non-Muslim populations. Interactive learning opportunities Helping attendees source the latest ingredients and understand new formulation techniques will be a number of exciting interactive areas offering practical, hands-on experience with
some of the newest and most revolutionary products to hit the market. The popular Formulation Lab will return for
2022, offering a schedule of carefully curated sessions designed to help formulators and R&D specialists learn about new ingredients and formulation techniques. The first day will see Mie Lin Soong,
regional technical specialist for personal care at Gattefossé Asia Pacific, lead a session entitled ‘Luxurious Skincare protected by UV with Solastemis & PEG-free vegan emulsifier’. Day two will welcome Haruna Sawaguchi,

The masterclass is called ‘Focus on solid cosmetics and waterless – how to fix the issues’. Hofmann explores the issues facing
formulators as brands look to remove plastics and respond to increased demands for waterless or solid cosmetics. Attendees will have the chance to see these new techniques in action when Hofmann formulates a solid sugar scrub in which the exfoliant is suspended in a mixture of oils and waxes. “We will gain an elegant way to prevent the
sugar from settling during the cooling down process. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions that relate to your own problems you might have in your own lab,” says Hofmann.
Formulation technical session On day three, 3 November, Hofmann will lead a technical discussion entitled ‘Build your confidence to become a master formulator’. Taking in the style of a free flow, one hour Q&A session, attendees will be equipped with formulation solutions that will help build
