proteins (Figure 6). However, application of Decapeptide-4 (at 1 ppm) showed a protective effect for pro-collagen I expression and fibronectin expression at 100% and 58% respectively, and a protective effect for elastin expression at 73% (at 0.1 ppm) (Figure 6). On the other hand, results from keratinocytes

after exposure to UVB, induced down- regulation of Sirtuin-1 and Aquaporin-3 (Figure 7). However, application of Decapeptide-4 in Peptovitae Matrix showed a protective effect of 49% and 150% respectively at 1ppm (Figure 7). As the resultant Aquaporin-3 expression was also a value higher than the down-regulation due to UVB exposure, indicates that Peptovitae Matrix would also have an AQP3 expression stimulatory effect.

In vivo study A hemi-face, double-blind, placebo controlled clinical study was conducted on 20 females aged 50-65 years old. These Korean volunteers had visible signs of sagging skin and crow’s feet wrinkles. We evaluated the effects of applying Peptovitae Matrix at 2% on its ability to improve the appearance of skin photoageing signs including skin sagging and crow’s feet wrinkles at different time points from days zero, 14, 28 and 56.

Facial lifting / anti-sagging From day 14, day 28 and day 56, the use of serum with Peptovitae Matrix at 2% showed

a decrease of the angle measured on the cheekbone (Figure 8), with an improvement of the facial lifting angle from -3% to -5% over time. The reduction of the angles corresponds to a lifting effect, or can be interpreted as less skin sagging (Figure 9) based on the evaluation of contour lines using the moiré phenomenon (F-ray diagnostic equipment & image analysis). A larger triangular facial V angle corresponds

to a greater facial sagging effect and impression of an ageing face. On the other hand, a sharper triangular facial V angle translates to a facial lifting effect, less sagging and an overall

youthful facial appearance (Figure 9). After 56 days of application with Peptovitae

Matrix, the facial lifting effect was visualized by F-ray & image analysis (Figure 10).

Anti-wrinkle effect (crow’s feet) After 14, 28 and 56 days of application with Peptovitae Matrix at 2%, the serum significantly showed a reduction of wrinkles, particularly on crow’s feet appearance versus the baseline, by 7% 10% and 10% respectively (p<0.001) (Figure 11). The reduction was found to be higher than the placebo serum after 28 and 56 days, even if the differences between the two serums were not statistically significant. From the visual perspective (Figure 12)

using two volunteers, the appearance of crow’s feet wrinkle appearance was shown to improve overtime from 14 and 56 days after application of Peptovitae Matrix at 2%. Additionally, the consumer panel made a

self-assessment after 56 days of application with Peptovitae Matrix at 2% (Figure 13). A significant majority of the volunteers assessed claimed the efficacy of the serum as ‘good or very good’ for facial lifting (75%, p<0.05), elasticity at the skin’s surface (75%, p<0.05), skin hydration (80%, p<0.01) and skin smoothness (80%, p<0.01). Furthermore, 70% (p<0.1) of the volunteers perceived a good to very good effect on
