AGEM NOVEMBER 2024 RECAP
1 Following the recent elections in the US and the change of administrations, AGEM CEO Daron Dorsey kicked off the December meeting speaking to members about the potential for significant cross-border issues that are likely to affect suppliers based in the US and abroad. AGEM Associate Member KPMG recently prepared a policy paper on the topic that will be circulated to members. AGEM is also evaluating options for a thought leadership forum in late February or March focused on this and other similar issues to facilitate communications and knowledge amongst the AGEM membership.
2 Stuart Hunter, Managing Director of Clarion Gaming Events, gave a presentation to AGEM members in the run up to the ICE 2025 show being held for the first time in Barcelona from January 20-22, 2025. Mr. Hunter noted that this year’s event is sold out, making it approximately 20 per cent larger than the 2024 London show and will see 750 brands exhibiting (with up to 1,000 including the Affiliate event). Clarion is targeting a visitor audience of 55,000, but pre-registration is tracking at 20,000 to date, meaning the current trajectory could take visitor numbers over 60,000. Te UK remains the largest single registration origin followed by Spain, Malta, US, Cyprus, Germany and Armenia, with emerging markets in LatAm, the UAE and India also representing substantial growth. With the date change to January and show running Monday to Wednesday, Clarion is encouraging visitors to arrive on the weekend to enjoy the cultural experience of Barcelona, with numerous ‘Day Zero’ (Sunday) activities for ICE visitors all over the city including the Time Out Market – a must see, food and entertainment experience. Mr. Hunter also

The largest negative contribution to the index was sourced to International Game Technology, whose 5.4 per cent decrease in stock price resulted in a 5.03- point loss to the AGEM Index.

3 AGEM has been monitoring events in Brazil closely and the recent news that the Senate has postponed a vote on long-delayed legislation that would allow land-based casinos in Brazil was disappointing, but not entirely unexpected. At current, that postponement has not affected the planned regulated online gambling launch on January 1, 2025, despite ongoing challenges and court proceedings.
4 AGEM continues its efforts to provide options and alternatives to the Nevada Gaming Control Board to modernise and improve Nevada’s framework for evaluation and approval of gaming technology. On December 10, Daron Dorsey, along with AGEM’s external professionals, Dan Reaser and Mike Alonso, leadership from GLI and BMM and supplier representatives, met with Chair Hendrick and his team on the prospect of additional legislative or regulatory solutions that can be pursued.
FORTHCOMING EVENTS 1 Prior to ICE, AGEM will be hosting a Happy Hour reception taking place on Saturday 18th January 2025 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm for members and friends.
