A comprehensive walking tour to discover the mountains, coast, culture and wildlife of South Africa
This trekking adventure takes us to indigenous forests, coastal trails, mountain ranges and tribal villages. We follow waterfall trails, get up close and personal with the big game of Kruger National Park on a walking safari and discover all about the Zulu culture with a walk in the battlefi elds. We kayak and snorkel in the crystal clear waters of Kosi Bay, climb sand dunes and walk on the iconic Drakensberg mountains.
12 day tour itinerary
Day 1 Join tour Johannesburg. Transfer to Graskop enjoying scenic views of the Eastern Transvaal mountains en route. Day 2/3 Graskop Spend two days trekking and explore indigenous forest, waterfalls and pictoresque valleys. Day 4 Kruger National Park Take a game drive and a walking safari to observe the rich wildlife of one of the most iconic parks in Africa. Days 5/6 Mlilwane Enter Swaziland and visit Sibebe rock, an impressive granite dome often compared to the famous Ayer’s rock in Australia.

Enjoy magnifi cent vistas across the Manzini region all the way to Lubombo mountains. Walk through grassland and forest in Mlilwane and try to spot the wildlife that inhabits the reserve. Days 7/8 Kosi Bay Explore the crystal clear waters of Kosi Bay by sea kayak and snorkel to discover an incredible variety of tropical species. We climb sand dunes, hike through mangroves, forest and grassland with chances to spot dolphins and humpback whales (in season). Day 9 Dundee Learn about the Zulu history while you take a walk
in the famous battlefi elds. Days 10/11 Drakensberg Hike on the most scenic mountains in South Africa, explore the amphitheatre where the Tugela river has its source. See the spectacular waterfalls, dropping 900m off the top of Drakensberg escarpment and take a swim in the pools. Day 12 Transfer to Johannesburg where the tour ends.

Accommodation: 8 nights standard hotels, 2 nights standard beehive huts, 1 night simple camp. Meals: 11 breakfasts, 6 lunches and 4 dinners are included. Tour staff: Explore Tour Leader, driver(s), and rangers. Transport: Bus and 4WD. Trekking Details: We trek in a variety of locations over differing terrain for 9 days with an average of 2 to 7 hours walking each day. We have graded this trip as easy to moderate. Group Size: Generally 10 to 16.
