Tour essentials Easy walking in Bulgaria’s beautiful Rodopi Mountains


The Rodopi Mountains are steeped in ancient Greek mythology: according to legend, the mountains were home to the gods Orpheus and Dionysus. On this walking tour in Bulgaria we explore the beautiful region, visiting remote mountain villages and spectacular landscapes. Staying in family-run guesthouses we are assured of the welcoming Bulgarian hospitality.


8 day tour itinerary


Day 1 Join tour Sofi a and drive to Kosovo Village in the Rodopi Mountains. Day 2 Wonderful Bridges Today we walk to the Wonderful Bridges; an interesting rock formation. Day 3 Waterfalls Canyon Trail Hike in the area of the Orpheus Rocks and admire the waterfalls. Visit the Museum of History in Smolyan. Day 4 Arda River Hike along old mountain paths still used by shepherds

today. Enjoy a barbecue lunch at the springs of the Arda River. Day 5 Mountain Villages Walk in the hills above Gela and enjoy the fascinating architecture of Shiroka Laka. Wine tasting in a local winery. Day 6 Trigrad Explore the Yagodina Cave. Walk from the village of Yagodina to Trigrad through alpine meadows. Discover the Trigrad Gorge rising up from the Trigradska River and visit the Devil’s


Throat Cave. Day 7 Devin River Follow the Devin River passing over several scenic bridges ending up at the remains of a medieval fortress with a wonderful view over the valley. Day 8 Drive to Sofi a airport where the tour ends.
