Whether I’m laced into my walking boots or have a pair of snowshoes strapped to my feet, I’m happiest when I’m exploring the world on foot. I’ve been lucky enough to complete the Mont Blanc Circuit, summit Ben Nevis and Snowdon and trek the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. I’ve trekked in the Atlas Mountains, Pyrenees and Drakensberg; I can’t wait to see where my feet take me next!

After meeting my husband on a trek in the Everest Region in Nepal, I was thrilled to have an opportunity to trek in the Annapurna region last year on our Mini Annapurna Circuit tour. Walking in the shadows of 8,000m+ peaks again with some of the friendliest people in the world made for a truly memorable experience. I have also trekked in Peru along the Inca Trail and I have just come back from completing the Tour of Mont Blanc which was a great personal achievement, and once again the scenery was stunning, the tour leader was excellent and the food was great – as always! Where will my legs take me next…

Since joining Explore in 2004, I have been lucky enough to trek the Camino De Santiago and try the Sicilian Volcano trek, along with many others. There is no better feeling then trekking amongst some of the world’s prettiest scenery and forgetting all of life’s worries. You really do feel like you’re on top of the world. What better way to stretch your legs in the great outdoors and meet some wonderful new friends?

As someone who has trekked all over the world, I’m still drawn back to some amazing walking in Europe. My favourites have to be the Cretan Rambler and the Lycian Way. Both tours offer such amazing scenery with mountain views, coastal paths, steep gorges and even some elusive wildlife. Top that off with great food, sunshine, a cold beer and a whole bunch of new trekking buddies and there really is no better way to walk!
After six days of important acclimatisation through forest, heather moorland, alpine meadow, rocks and arctic desert, I arrived on top of Kilimanjaro. I was ecstatic to be standing on top of an entire continent, knowing that no-one else was higher at that moment. I’d wanted to climb Kilimanjaro for a while, and now I’d done it – it’s such a feeling of achievement and the training beforehand was more than worth it!
