Day walks from our comfortable family-run farmhouse in northern Tuscany

A centre-based walking trip that explores Tuscany’s hidden gem – the Garfagnana Valley. Nestled between the ‘marble mountains’ of the Alpi Apuane and the rolling Apennines, this is an area of outstanding natural beauty. In a trip highlight we walk along the celebrated ‘Cinque Terre’ coastal path. Each evening we return to our comfortable agriturismo (farmhouse) for some delicious home-cooked Tuscan cuisine.

Day 2 Orecchiella National Park Enjoy a walk in the Apennines with a summit picnic at 1600m offering superb views of the region. Day 3 Garfagnana Valley From the farmhouse, discover the lower Garfagnana Valley and villages along the River Serchio. Day 4 Pisa and Lucca Optional visit to Lucca for a cycle or a walk on the medieval city walls; choose to explore Pisa and see the famous Leaning Tower. Day 5 Rock

Winter Trails of Hidden Tuscany

In winter months we offer a slightly different itinerary suited to local conditions. On three of the walking days where we trek above 1000m, we expect to be able to use snowshoes for sections of the walk. Equipment and support is provided, no experience is necessary. Snow shoeing is non-technical, easy and extremely rewarding. This is an ideal opportunity to try your hand if not done before.

Please refer to tour notes for more details.
