BAY OF BISCAY Snowshoeing holiday in the Picos de Europa
This snowshoeing adventure takes us through the dramatically beautiful snow-capped mountains of Picos de Europa National Park. We experience a variety of mountain scenery on snowshoe routes in the Eastern, Western and Central Massifs. As a fi tting fi nale we leave the snow behind and trek along cliff-cut pathways through the imposing Cares Gorge. Snow shoes are easy to use and require no previous experience.
8 day tour itinerary
Day 1 Join tour Asturias airport and drive to Benia de Onis. Day 2 Western Massif Easy to use and suitable for beginners, we learn to attach the snow shoes to walking boots with the help of our expert local guide. Walk in the Cornion Range from Covadonga Lake with an ascent to the Vegarredonda Refuge. Day 3 Eastern Massif From our base in Sotres, we head deep into the Andara range. Day 4 Espinama We traverse the scenic Duje valley, making our way south through a corridor of high peaks. Day 5 Central Massif From

Fuente De we ride an exhilarating cable car into the heart of the Picos and make our way back to Sotres. Day 6 Bulnes Only accessible by footpath until 2001, we snowshoe to Bulnes village before descending the dramatic Texu gorge to Poncebos. Day 7 Cares Gorge Today we leave the snow behind on a walk through the imposing Cares Gorge. Day 8 Tour ends Asturias airport.

Accommodation: 1 night comfortable hotel, 5 nights standard hotels, 1 night standard pension. Meals: 7 breakfasts, 6 lunches and 6 dinners are included. Tour staff: Explore Tour Leader and driver(s). Transport: Bus, cable car and 4WD. Trekking Details: This is a 6-day trek with an average of 4 to 6 hours snowshoeing each day. The fi nal walk is without snow shoes. We have graded this trek as moderate. Snowshoeing is suitable for beginners, snow shoes and walking sticks are provided and we recommend you bring gaiters. Group Size: Generally 10 to 16.
