New Zealand is all about the ‘great outdoors’ and this tour aims to bring you the best of what this compact, yet dramatic and varied country has to offer as you explore on foot. The North Island combines an awesome natural beauty with a rich Maori heritage and the South Island is blessed with dramatic landscapes. Discover them both as you trek through volcanic landscapes, around picturesque lakes, next to impressive glaciers and along breathtaking coastlines.


19 day tour itinerary


Day 1 Join tour Auckland; short sightseeing tour. Day 2 Rotorua Travel to Rotorua. Walk around the Blue Lake and through the Whakarewarewa Forest. In the evening enjoy a Maori hangi (a traditional feast). Days 3/4 Tongariro National Park Discover the hot mud pools and geysers of Rotorua before heading to the volcanic landscape of Tongariro National Park. Here there are plentiful walking opportunities including the Tongariro Crossing, which has been named ‘the best day walk in the world.’ Days 5/6 Wellington Drive to the capital. Explore the city and visit the Te Papa National Museum. Take the ferry to the South Island across the Queen Charlotte Sound. Day 7 Queen Charlotte Track Board a water taxi to the Motuaru Island Bird Sanctuary and walk part of the Queen Charlotte coastal track. Day 8 Abel Tasman National Park Drive one of the most scenic routes in New Zealand. Visit Abel Tasman National Park and explore on foot and by boat. Day 9 Punakaiki Journey to Punakaiki


and walk along the Pororari River Track. En route, stop at Tauranga Bay to view fur seals in their natural habitat. Day 10 Fox Glacier Take a short walk up to the terminal face of this spectacular glacier. Days 11/12 Wanaka Drive through Westland National Park, a World Heritage Park, to reach Wanaka. Discover its beautiful landscapes on walks. Day 13 Queenstown Drive to the pretty town of Queenstown, which nestles in the shadow of The Remarkables mountain range. Take a cable car to admire the impressive views and walk down to the lakefront. Day 14 Te Anau Transfer to Te Anau, known locally as ‘the walking capital of the world.’ Walk part of the Kepler Track, traversing some of the most spectacular scenery on the South Island. Day 15 Milford Sound Admire the scenery as we drive down the Milford Road, one of the fi nest alpine drives in the world. Walk on the Routeburn Track, which offers breathtaking views of Fiordland National Park. Days 16/17 Mount Cook
