Trekking from the Mediterranean into Turkey’s Taurus Mountains along the Saint Paul Trail
Walk in the footsteps of Saint Paul through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Taurus Mountains. Following ancient Roman roads and paths we pass through fragrant cedar and pine forests, high altitude pastures and limestone peaks. We visit Lake Egirdir, admire views of Koprulu Canyon and explore the Roman theatre at Selge. Along the way we meet local people including shepherds, and stay in village guesthouses.
8 day tour itinerary
Day 1 Tour starts Antalya. Day 2 Egirdir Drive north to the Taurus Mountains. Walk through shepherds’ pastures above Balkiri to Egirdir. Admire views of the lake. Day 3 Yukari Gokdere Tour the town of Egirdir. Hike to Yukari Gokdere through forests, shepherd pastures and apple and cherry orchards. Drive around Lake Kovada to Kasimlar. Stay overnight in a village lodge.

Day 2 - 4 hours Egirdir
Day 4 Kesme Walk through pine forest and around dramatic rock outcrops to a skyline pass. Descend to Kesme through remote unexplained ruins and shepherd camps. Day 5 Caltepe Hike through local villages to Degirmenozu. Admire views of Koprulu Canyon. Drive to Caltepe. Day 6 Selge Walk along Roman and Ottoman droving roads to Selge, passing through isolated villages
Kasimlar Kesme
and forests. Day 7 Antalya Hike to the Roman theatre at Selge and explore the ruins above Altinkaya. Drive to Oluk where a Roman bridge spans the Koprulu River. Continue to Antalya. Day 8 Tour ends Antalya
