TANZANIAWALKING SAFARI
On this tour we walk through northern Tanzania’s great gamelands and experience incredible wildlife at close range. With the Great Rift Valley as a backdrop we trek through the bush in Tarangire National Park and around the ancient volcano rim at Ngorongoro. We also descend into the caldera to track rhinos and enjoy a game drive in the Serengeti.
ITINERARY
Days 1/2 Overnight flight to Kilimanjaro and drive to Lake Manyara. Take a nature walk around the shores watching the prolific birdlife. Day 3 Serengeti National Park Passing several Maasai settlements we visit Olduvai Gorge where anthropologists discovered an ancient human skull, nicknamed the ‘Nutcracker Man’. Travel across the Serengeti plains. Days 4/5 Ikoma Take a game drive through Serengeti National Park in the morning and walk along the park boundaries at Ikoma in the afternoon. Optional dawn balloon ride and night safari. Day 6 Ngorongoro Crater Watch for game on the drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Centre. Take a walk around the crater’s steep rim. Day 7 Caldera Descend into the 100-square-mile natural basin and enjoy a game drive in search of rhinos, elephants and lions. Day 8 Tarangire National Park Walk among the primeval baobab trees of Tarangire, watching for herds gathering around the watering holes. Days 9/10 Fly to the UK.
