ANNAPURNA SANCTUARY
Discover a world of breathtaking mountain peaks on this exciting expedition to the vast natural amphitheatre of the Annapurna Sanctuary. Leaving the foothills we pass under the great bulk of Macchapuchare and spend a night at base camp. After the trek enjoy some well earned rest beside the lake in Pokhara.
ITINERARY
Days 1/2 Overnight flight to Kathmandu. Day 3 Kathmandu Trek briefing. A walk around the city’s colourful bazaars. Visit Swayambunth Temple. Day 4 Dhamphus Phedi Fly to Pokhara and drive to Dhamphus Phedi. Climb up to Dhamphus at 1700m. Days 5/6 Modi Khola Trek along the river through small villages and terraces to reach Chommrong (2060m). Day 7 Teahouse Steep climb to the ridge at Sinuwa for tea (2350m). Day 8 Machhapuchare Base Camp Enter the sanctuary ‘gates’ – between Machhapuchare and Huinchuli – to the camp (3720m). Day 9 Annapurna Hike to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m) for views of the glacier. Days 10/11 Ghandruk Begin our descent following a different route back to the foothills to Ghandruk. Day 12 Pokhara Return to the lakeside town. Day 13 Free day Time to visit a village of Tibetan refugees or a boat trip. Days 14/15 Kathmandu Free time to explore. Optional scenic flight to view Everest. Day 16 Fly to the UK.
