Join us in Cuba as we uncover the island’s revolutionary history. We explore the colonial cities of Havana and Trinidad. We discover Fidel Castro’s headquarters in the Sierra Maestra Mountains and Che Guevara’s mausoleum in Santa Clara. We swim under waterfalls, climb forest trails and trek to the summit of Pico Turquino – Cuba’s highest peak.
ITINERARY
Day 1 Fly to Havana. Day 2 Havana Tour the old town, absorbing the atmosphere of the vibrant city. Days 3/4 Trinidad Travel to the historic Bay of Pigs – the site of the 1961 US invasion of Cuba. Continue along the coast to the colonial town of Trinidad. Days 5/6 Mountain trails Spend 2 nights camping in haciendas (farm estates) in Topes de Collantes National Park. Explore mountain trails and swim under waterfalls. Days 7/8 Comandancia de la Plata Drive to Santo Domingo and discover Fidel Castro’s secret headquarters in the Sierra Maestra Mountains. Days 9/10 Pico Turquino Trek through lush tropical forests to the summit of Cuba’s highest peak (1972m). Days 11 Santiago de Cuba Explore one of the island’s liveliest cities and relax with a cocktail in one of the roof-top bars. Days 12/13 Havana Drive to Havana. Visit Cameguey and Che Guevara’s mausoleum at Santa Clara en route. Day 14 Rainforest walks Explore forest trails and swim in jungle pools at Las Terrazas. Days 15/16 Overnight flight to the UK.
