TREKKING IN THE HIGH TATRAS
Rugged grasslands, craggy peaks and giant lakes all form part of Slovakia’s High Tatras range. Based in a cosy guesthouse in the resort of Tatranska Lomnica, we take a series of day walks through scenic forests and meadows. We also raft along the dramatic Dunajec River, visit the Polish spa town of Szczawnica and discover the medieval city of Krakow.
ITINERARY
Day 1 Slovakian Tatras Fly to Krakow in Poland. Drive to the Slovakian guesthouse in Tatranska Lomnica (Slovakia), the base for the week. Days 2/3 Tatras Hikes Choose between tougher walks up to the craggy Tatras Peaks or more gentle walks through the forested valleys. Hike along well-marked trails to discover rugged cliffs, emerald lakes and pretty waterfalls. Optional visit to the Symbolic Cemetery. Day 4 Rafting Cross into Poland and raft past the towering limestone cliffs of the Dunajec River Gorge. Visit the spa town of Szczawnica and the 14th century Niedzica castle. Day 5 Predne Solisko Peak Take a chair lift and walk to the summit. Day 6 Koprovsky Stit Walk to the top (2367m) for views across the valleys. Optional trip to the geothermal spa at Aquacity. Day 7 Krakow Explore the medieval Polish city. Day 8 Fly to the UK.

Enter a land of remote villages, ancient customs and beautiful scenery on this Romanian adventure. We visit painted monasteries in the Bukovina hills, take an historic steam train through the remote Vaser Valley and walk in the forested Carpathian Mountains.
