AEGEAN ISLANDS HIKE

The Cycladic Islands of Tinos and Andros are ideal for a walking holiday: we follow ancient mule tracks through vineyards, orange groves and across herb- scented hillsides to find sleepy hamlets and wonderful, unspoilt beaches. We trek to the cliff-top monastery at Panachrantos, visit the ruined castle at Exobourgo Peak (570m) and explore the Venetian hilltop fortress of Paliokastro.

ITINERARY

Day 1 Fly to Athens and travel to Rafina. Days 2/4 Tinos Hike along old mule tracks to remote villages and admire views over the Aegean Coast. Climb to the rocky summit of Exobourgo Peak. Optional boat trip to the sanctuary of Delos – one of ancient Greece’s most sacred sites. Days 5/7 Andros Trek past ruined watermills to the Venetian hilltop fortress of Paliokastro. Descend through paths lined with fig trees and freshwater springs to the town of Korthi for a well- earned dip in the Aegean Sea. Walk along the high route to the cliff-top monastery at Panachrantos and follow in the footsteps of transient monks to the coastal town of Andros. Relax on Paraporti beach. Catch a ferry back to Rafina. Day 8 Travel by bus to Athens and fly to the UK.
