Completed in 2010, Wyeth’s plant in Shanghai (now Pfizer) is one of the biggest factories in the world for making baby milk formula and was built by Ireland’s PM Group in partnership with Germany’s M+W Zander. With over 1,700 employees working around the world the PM Group is one of Ireland’s most successful large-scale project companies with an impressive range of international clients including a strong base in Asia. PM offers project management in addition to construction, architecture, engineering design and technical consulting. Set up in 1973, the Dublin and Cork-based company’s impressive portfolio of services ranges from small consultancy studies to large-scale, complex capital projects for industrial clients. It has undertaken Irish infrastructure projects such as the new Pier D in Dublin Airport and the Aviva Stadium (formerly Lansdowne Road). Projects in Asia are based in Singapore, India and the Philippines for clients such as Wyeth, and Abbott. In China, PM is working on two projects for Novartis, one project being an API facility in Changshu and a separate project in Shanghai. In 2010, PM Group have won the process design of three further major Food facilities being developed by multinational clients in South-East China.

Last year Irish company CRH acquired a 26% shareholding in the Jilin Yatai Group’s cement operations (Yatai Cement). Yatai Cement’s operations comprise four integrated cement plants and four separate grinding stations in Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces in north eastern China. Yatai Cement is the leading player in the north eastern provinces and is a top-10 cement supplier in China.

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) also known as the Giza Museum is
being designed by Dublin-based Heneghan Peng. It will be built by 2013 at a cost of $US 550M. The museum will be sited on 50 hectares of land in Giza and is part of a new master plan for the plateau.
