13. Anne Enright’s novel The Gathering won the 2007 Man Booker Prize and she became the fourth Irish author to win the prestigious prize since its inception in 1969.


14. Roddy Doyle won the Man Booker Prize in 1993 for his novel Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha. He is a novelist, dramatist and screen-writer having written many of Ireland’s leading books several of which have been made into fi lms including, The Commitments, The Snapper and The Van.
