Damien carried the large casserole dish into the living room, where his parents’ guests were sitting. The whole way in he was careful not to let the dish slip. It was piping hot and he was worried that he could burn the tips of his fi ngers if he held it for much longer. Damien hated when his parents had guests to dinner. It always meant that he was banished out of sight for a few hours to entertain himself. He decided he would cycle down to Gordon and they could play basketball in his front garden to kill some time. When he arrived at Gordon’s house he noticed the front door was open. Damien carefully approached the front of the house and peered into the hall.
