Investigate
Find out all you can about the recent viral phenomenon the Mannequin Challenge. Find some interesting videos of mannequin challenges online and discuss the stories behind the videos.
Create
1. A freeze frame is where you imagine someone is taking a picture of you and you hold still in a particular pose, like you have seen in the mannequin challenge videos. In groups, choose a story that everyone has read and decide on a scene or image from the story. Arrange yourselves into freeze frame depicting this scene. Show your classmates and see if they can guess the story.
2. (a) Use the comic strip template on page 35 of your Portfolio to create your own story. Fill in all four frames. Remember to use the four stages in the plot structure.
(b) Write a story based on your comic strip in the space provided on pages 36–37 of your Portfolio. Remember to:
have an opening that hooks your reader choose a tense (e.g. past or present) and stick with it.
