Radio Many years ago, the radio (or wireless) was the most thrilling advancement in technology. It meant that people were connected to the world in a new, exciting way. The radio has been a source of news and entertainment since the 1920s.
In Ireland, we have national stations including: RTÉ 2 FM RTÉ Radio 1 RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta RTÉ Lyric FM.

You may listen to radio breakfast shows as you get ready for school. These shows are very popular, especially with people commuting to and from work.
Today FM is broadcast nationally, but it is a commercial station that is funded through advertising. This station broadcasts the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show live every morning. Like many other radio shows, it is led by a presenter and includes some of the following:

news and sport advertising.
