Evaluation results Porphyrin suppression experiments were conducted using the prepared gel lotion. The results are shown in Figure 1. In the lotion without the spherical


silica aerogel powder and containing IPMP alone, porphyrins increased with time after application and the porphyrin score increased, while the lotion containing both, that is to say, the spherical silica aerogel powder loaded with IPMP, for a long time, the increase in porphyrin was suppressed. This may be due to the slow-release effect of the spherical silica aerogel powder. In addition, we examined whether the


increase in porphyrins when nothing is applied and the suppression of porphyrins due to sebum absorption by the spherical silica aerogel powder occurs when only the spherical silica aerogel powder is added, without IPMP. The results are shown in Figure 2. When nothing was applied, the porphyrin


score increased with time. When gel lotion containing only IPMP or gel lotion containing only spherical silica aerogel powder was applied, the porphyrin score remained at the same level of increase. We speculate that this is because the


spherical silica aerogel powder inhibited the increase of acne bacteria by adsorbing sebum. The lotion containing IPMP-loaded


spherical silica aerogel powder suppressed the increase in porphyrin for a longer period of time than other lotions, and the porphyrin score remained near the initial value for five hours after application, suppressing the growth of acne bacteria. This is thought to be due to the slow

release of IPMP from the spherical silica aerogel powder, which sustained the antibacterial effect for a long time, indicating that the prepared gel lotion is effective in actual acne prevention.


Evaluation of IPMP release rate of gel lotion containing IPMP-loaded spherical silica aerogel powder by gas chromatography analysis The slow release process of IPMP in the gel lotion formulated with IPMP-loaded spherical silica aerogel powder over time was measured using gas chromatography (GC).

As a comparison, gel lotion formulated with


IPMP-loaded spherical silica aerogel powder and gel lotion formulated with IPMP alone were evaluated.


Evaluation method Samples were prepared and measured according to the following procedure. ■ 1. Measure 2 g of the prepared gel lotion into a screw tube and add 2 mL of squalane. ■ 2. Agitate with a stirrer and stop agitation after 0-24 hours. ■ 3. The supernatant liquid was collected and syringe filtered (0.45 μm).
