SKIN CARE

help to provide a solution for sensitive skin with anti-ageing benefits.

Clinical efficacy for youthful-looking sensitive skin A clinical test was carried out on 35 female and male volunteers of Asian descent having sensitive skin and aged between 34 and 59 years old who applied a cream containing 2% of the biotech ingredient and a placebo cream on half face and on the forearms, twice a day for 28 days, following a hemi-face design. After seven and 28 days of treatment, an improvement in sensitive skin and anti-ageing efficacy were evaluated.

Reinforcing the skin barrier function Both skin hydration levels and transepidermal water loss (TEWL) of the stratum corneum were analyzed on the cheek by corneometry and tewametry, respectively. The results showed a statistically significant improvement of skin hydration (Figure 5A) and transepidermal water loss (TEWL) (Figure 5B) on the cheek. A visual improvement of skin moisturization over time also can be visualized (Figure 5C).

Reducing sallow appearance The ability of the active ingredient to minimize the skin sallow appearance was evaluated by measuring the reduced accumulation of AGEs on the forearm skin through an AGEs auto-fluorescence reader. The results showed a statistically significant reduction of the accumulation of AGEs on the forearm (Figure 6A). Furthermore, the yellow skin colour

was evaluated on the cheek through the b* parameter by spectrophotometry. A statistically significant reduction of the b* parameter was obtained (Figure 6B). Indeed, a visible improvement in reducing the sallow appearance with the active cream versus the initial time is clearly noticed (Figure 6C).

Increasing skin luminosity The luminosity of the skin was evaluated on the cheek through the L* parameter by spectrophotometry. A statistically significant improvement of the L* parameter was obtained (Figure 7A) and also can be observed in the images (Figure 7B), showing more radiant and glowing skin even after one week.

Minimizing dark spots pigmentation The pigmentation of the dark spots was evaluated through spectrophotometry by measuring the individual typology angle (ITAo

Clinical efficacy for taking care of sensitive and unhealthy skin A second clinical test was conducted on 83 female and male volunteers of Caucasian or Latin American descent having sensitive

skin and aged between 40 and 60 years old, divided in two groups: with healthy or unhealthy diet, classified by a nutritionist. The volunteers applied a cream containing

2% of the biotech ingredient or a placebo cream on whole face, twice a day for 28 days. After 30 minutes or 28 days of treatment, several parameters related with sensitive skin and skin ageing were evaluated.
