Silab unwraps active dry film technology
Silab has taken the wraps off Silafilm, a natural, biodegradable dry film that is highly concentrated in active ingredients for use in masks, patches, strips and other applications. The dry film is applied on
skin wetted with water, which rehydrates and creates intimate contact with the skin surface as a result of its optimal adhesion. The polysaccharide chains of its matrix then become more mobile, enabling the rapid and intense release of active molecules into the depth of the skin. Made at the French cosmetic
actives maker’s headquarters, the dry film has been launched with two products: Silafilm Radiance and Silafilm Pureness. Silafilm Radiance concentrates
Oxygeskin and p-Refinyl, cosmetic active ingredients obtained from garden nasturtium (Tropaeolum majus) and lentil (Lens esculenta). Applied as a face mask, Silafilm Radiance tests showed significant
improvement of the healthy-glow effect, reflection and pink colour; these effects are maintained six hours after application. After a prolonged treatment
(12 applications spread over 28 days), in addition to improved skin hydration and radiance, lines and wrinkles are significantly attenuated and the extent of dilated pores decreases. These cosmetic benefits are
complemented by sensory benefits during and after application: 95% of volunteers report that Silafilm Radiance provides a real relaxing moment along with a sensation of freshness. In addition, 80% of them
observe a ‘second skin’ effect, the result of intimate contact enabling the optimal diffusion of active ingredients deep down in the skin. Meanwhile, Silafilm Pureness
concentrates the active ingredient Acnesium, obtained from the pericarps of immature pomegranates (Punica granatum). This natural active ingredient
intended to slight to moderate acne returns sebaceous gland activity to normal and exhibits antimicrobial action against the virulent strain of C. acnes. After a single application
of Silafilm Pureness as a face mask, the quantity of sebum is significantly reduced in both Caucasian and Asian volunteers. In addition, skin grain is refined, and the skin is intensely hydrated. The volunteers state that their skin seems less shiny, less oily and that skin dryness is attenuated; the reduced quantity of sebum and hydration continue six hours after application.

Mibelle unveils pine cone hair
care active Mibelle Biochemistry has launched PinoPlex, a hair care ingredient derived from pine cone. As an upcycling product,
the active is derived from pine cones (Pinus sylvestris) that are hand-collected in exceptional and carefully selected French forests. To obtain the valuable
ingredients, a gentle, green, microwave-assisted extraction process was implemented. PinoPlex is a powerful
moisturizer for the hair shaft and can combat dry and damaged hair. It not only penetrates the hair,
but also retains water by levelling out the hair cuticle, making the hair smoother and shinier. This bioinspired ingredient
prevents split ends and improves hair fibre integrity, making it more resistant to daily stress and breakage. It also supports keratinocyte
differentiation in the hair matrix, which makes the hair grow healthier and stronger. PinoPlex is said to be an ideal
ingredient for various hair care applications such as split-end menders, leave-in conditioning repair creams, and hydrating overnight leave-in conditioners.
