Figure 3: Proteins and peptides mode of action This was demonstrated thanks to MALDI-
TOF-TOF mass spectrometry (matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time of flight mass spectrometry). Non-treated hair tresses bleached once, were analysed versus the bleached tresses treated with oat peptide extract. Thanks to the mass spectrometry, the inner parts of the hair fibres were analyzed. The presence of the peptides was
demonstrated in the treated fibres versus the non-treated ones, confirming the ability of
the ingredient to deeply penetrate the hair. Additional tests, like tensile, breakage or fatigue assessments, showed the recovery of the mechanical properties, demonstrating the peptides could establish interactions with the damaged areas of the cortex.
Oat peptides The oat peptide ingredient is able to target and adapt to the level of damage within the hair fibre. The greater the damage, the more charged
the fibre will be and the more the peptides will be able to interact and restore structural integrity of the hair. This ingredient is designed to improve hair strength and resistance, and decrease hair breakage in tresses that have been strongly bleached. Fatigue test was done on three-time
bleached hair to demonstrate the ability of the ingredient to adapt to the level of damage and rescue hair fibres with very high level of damage. The ingredient applied at 2% in shampoo and
