A lively exhibition The exhibition at Suppliers’ Day showcased

some of the leading local and global ingredient suppliers operating in the US market. One of the global names was Ashland, who introduced Aquastyle 300 N styling polymer at the show. This multifunctional fixative and styling polymer enables the creation of extreme hair styles with resistant hold and also provides a shield on the hair surface. It can be used in cream gels as well as clear gels, mousses, serums and lotions among others. Also from Ashland was Optimage SF microgel, which gives a rapid and significant improvement in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The product’s soft flexible silicone-free microgels do not interfere with other ingredients in a formulation and typically enhance its stability.

On the Lonza stand, their

PreservationPlus concept was one of the key tools being highlighted. PreservationPlus responds to customer needs and applies integrated expertise to developing market-leading formulations. “As formulations become more complex to respond to evolving consumer demands, we recommend moving preservative selection upstream in the development process,” said Phil Hindley, head of Global Marketing, Preservation. “The days of selecting a preservative product or chemistry in isolation have passed.”

It is important to put strong preservative

performance at the forefront of the development process and Lonza is confident that it has the expertise and products to help businesses do this. While at the exhibition, Personal Care

spoke with Cesar Saez, vice president Global Personal Care Industry, DKSH, about his experiences at the show: ”We have been very happy with a big number of visitors of high quality, meeting customers and several suppliers. The show is getting bigger every year as well so this is the biggest Suppliers’ Day so far.” Personal Care asked Cesar Saez how the US market fits into their overall strategy: “It is actually very important for us. Although we have the ‘Think Asia, think DKSH’ tagline, US and Europe play a very big role for Personal Care; maybe 50-50 of our business is in and out of Asia. But a lot of what we do in US is representing partners from Japan, Korea and China, plus partners from other parts of the world, so it will continue to be an important part of our strategy as we keep expanding year on year on our footprint in the US and globally as well.”

Looking ahead to next year Plans are already underway for the 2019 NYSCC Suppliers’ Day taking place May 7- 8, again at the Javits Center. “The show floor for Suppliers’ Day 2019 has been expanded and last week we had over 80% of our exhibitors re-sign for next year. NYSCC will increase its industry partnerships and continue to work closely with its members and the SCC to create the best global ingredients event for the industry, by the industry,” said Sonia Dawson, chair-elect, NYSCC.
