we’ll gladly refer to them. Our mission is to grow together with our partners, and that’s where we see long-term value — through collaboration, not competition.
I also make it a priority to learn from the broader venture capital ecosystem, especially outside iGaming. Tere are funds out there with impressive track records, and we always keep an eye on what works in the wider investment world. I see competition as a positive force — it pushes us to do better, to be faster, and to always stay ahead in an ever-evolving market.
What importance do you place on in-person meetings? Can you invest in a person and a business just from virtual calls?
In our work with founders from all around the world, we don’t limit ourselves to just in-person meetings or only virtual calls — both have their unique advantages. Virtual calls allow us to quickly filter and assess projects, helping us make initial evaluations and keep things moving efficiently. Tey offer us flexibility and the ability to connect with a wide range of entrepreneurs, regardless of geography.
However, when we decide to move forward with a project, I firmly believe that an in-person meeting is essential. It’s in those moments where you truly feel a person’s energy and commitment. While a pitch can look perfect on paper, the personal connection you build in a face-
to-face meeting often reveals more about the person behind the idea. It’s where I can gauge their passion, their resilience, and their ability to execute under pressure. Tat’s where the real work begins, and that’s where trust is built.
At the end of the day, both formats play an important role in how we assess and connect with our partners. But when it comes to making strategic decisions and deepening a relationship, nothing beats the value of an in-person meeting.
Could you tell us more about the 2025 Xanada Pitch Contest? What's changed from last year?
We’ve reworked the Xanada Pitch Contest from the ground up. Tis year, the selection process is no longer handled by the fund alone - applications will be evaluated by a panel of top investors, business leaders, and industry experts who actively invest, build, and scale companies. Teir decisions go beyond product potential - they assess execution, scalability, and whether a start-up is ready to attract serious investment. Te contest has two winners. Te first will be announced on stage at NEXT in Valetta, pitching in front of key decision-makers - investors, operators, and partners who can drive real business growth. Te second will be chosen through online voting, allowing the industry itself to recognise a start-up with strong market appeal.
