all-new hotel and casino in 16 years, which offers 200 rooms, meeting and convention space, and outdoor areas. Caesars Entertainment has re-banded Bally’s as the Horseshoe and an upgrade whilst the SLS has also been upgraded and re-branded as the Grand Sierra Resort. Meanwhile Las Vegas is still being slated as one of the first locations for a chain of Atari- branded hotels with the developer GSD Group planning on a 400-room Atari hotel near the Strip.
Although gambling is a key ingredient in the
Vegas diet, it is however no longer said to be the driving force for casino revenues. At one time it made up two-thirds of casino revenues on the

Strip but that is declining whilst room and dining accounted for 73 per cent of revenue in 2023. Tere are more families visiting Vegas than

role in sports tourism and there are more family offerings in the pipeline and one major devel- opment includes the closing of the Tropicana, one of the Strip’s earliest landmark hotels and casinos, which after 67 years will now make way for the new 33,000-person Major League Baseball stadium due to open in 2028 costing $1.5bn. Some six per cent of visitors to Vegas, around 2.5 million, attended a sporting event during their stay – up four per cent from 2019.
