bonus flows, many of which are worth sharing with others. Tere is no togetherness though, just a loose competitive element. Multiplayer instantly broadens that for the social aspect, but it’s vital that you also create an enjoyable single player experience.
How does working with blockchain technology impact the design process?
Mainly it’s the bankrolling of the game that is impacted, not so much by blockchain limitations but how the funding of the casinos is handled. It essentially means the money to play with is fixed at the start of the session whereas in traditional casinos you can top up whenever you want.
Irrespective of the technology, the blockchain community has more so impacted our design process. Seeing what social games have gained traction in the crypto ecosystem always provides insight as to how our target audience is consuming content.
Further, we are fortunate to have a strong community in our social channels who we can showcase ideas to and gather feedback in real- time. I am not aware of any other game studio

that has spoken to their discord channels about upcoming games which can provide invaluable insight.
In FunFair's latest title, Astroboomers: To The Moon! players decide the optimum point at which to cash out before the spaceship crashes. What was your inspiration?
We’d spoken some time ago about what maths mechanics could influence the style of play and had various ideas of what could work. We then happened to see similar ideas and implementations of this with Bustabit. Others drew influence from that, and the crypto community had taken to this style, but none
had the visual or audio experience we’re used to producing nor the feature set that we considered important for multiplayer products.
Decision making is particularly popular within the crypto community. How prominent is ensuring active participation on behalf of the player in your creative approach?
It’s very important to provide decision making to the player to avoid the lull in interest if it’s just awaiting a result. Tis is primarily why slot games had to innovate and offer special features to not only further reward the player but to break the monotony of spins.
Tat’s not to say all games will have ongoing decision making throughout, it depends on the gaming experience we want to deliver. We review and revise once we’ve implemented all elements and can adjust right up until completion.
Finally, how do you measure the success of a new title? As Creative Director, do you value the game's commercial impact on the market above all else, or your personal and professional pride at the finish line before a game leaves the production line?
Te commercial impact is naturally a driving force in seeing how well they’re received financially - or not as the case may be. Everyone has an opinion and you’ll never please them all. It’s important to retain a balanced view where possible, not be swayed by gut reactions, utilise experience and not let pride hinder decisions. Above all you learn with every game, adapt and focus efforts to address issues for future releases.
