How do you think casino floors will change long-term?

Long-term, we are going to see gaming floors get back to some sort of normality and see more innovative offerings available to players, both on and off the tables. Tese innovations are going to centre around access to property branded mobile platforms, phone betting through in house proxy services, the use of digital currencies and allowing direct mobile payment methods to purchase chips at the table.

Do you think that we will see more space given over to sports betting?

Not necessarily, sports betting margins are too thin, there are much better performing options like offering branded social casino games accessed through mobile platforms.

Do you think that less space will be given to slots and that casinos could actually become a place for players to play on their mobiles?

Slots will always deliver significant revenues and I don’t see those being reduced for mobile platforms. I do see a need to get on board with offering players mobile betting, particularly in house proxy betting.

Can you see any major innovations in the space or long-term trends emerging?

Implementing social

distancing and strict cleaning measures really are just the starting point. Change

Use of digital currencies, phone/proxy betting and ramping mobile platforms through online and social casino games offerings.

In the years to come how will land based casinos continue to attract players?

Being competitive and looking inward at current policies that likely need changing with more open mind sets.

What role does the design of gaming environments play in this?

It is incredibly important as casinos start to reopen. Covid is going to reshape how land- based casinos operate long into the future. Implementing social distancing and strict cleaning measures really are just the starting point. Change Management is a resourceful process to improve properties gross gaming results and a process I am often asked to explore with clients looking to improve bottom line results.

A key component in improving the overall operation is reviewing the requisite level of skills, support and training given to staff on an ongoing basis. Tis is especially important around the key fundamental aspects of ensuring all games are running optimally and quickly without putting adverse pressure on the players. Basics like ensuring decent chip handling skills, understanding float management and upselling is why transformational change in the workplace has become so important and as such leads us into the need for a Change Management approach.
