Seminole Deal Unlocks Sports Betting


Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a historic gaming compact with the State of Florida and the Seminole Tribe of Florida.


Te agreement will generate the state a minimum of $2.5bn in new revenue over the next five years and an estimated $6bn through 2030 and includes sports betting.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a historic gaming compact with the State of Florida and the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Te agreement will generate the state a minimum of US$2.5bn in new revenue over the next five years and an estimated $6bn through 2030.


“Tis historic compact expands economic opportunity, tourism, and recreation, and bolsters the fiscal success of our state in one fell swoop for the benefit of all Floridians and Seminoles alike,” said Governor DeSantis.


“Our agreement establishes the framework to generate billions in new revenue and untold waves of positive economic impact. I would like to thank Seminole Tribe of Florida Chairman Marcellus Osceola Jr., Senate President Wilton Simpson, and House Speaker Chris Sprowls for their collective commitment to modernising the gaming industry in the state of Florida and setting the bar for the rest of the nation.”

Cordish Gaming goes live with Evolution in Pennsylvania

Evolution has announced that it has signed an agreement with Cordish Gaming Group, a division of Te Cordish Companies, to deliver its live casino and first-person RNG- based games to players in Pennsylvania via their new gaming site PlayLive!.


Te deal will see Evolution provide its portfolio of online casino games, game show-style gaming and First Person offering to PlayLive! customers in the state of Pennsylvania from Evolution’s live studio in Philadelphia. Go-live is planned during the second quarter of 2021.


Joe Billhimer, Executive Vice President at Cordish Gaming Group, said: “Our Live! Casinos and Hotels set a new standard


revenue to over six billion dollars over the next decade, with a guaranteed minimum of two and a half billion dollars during the first five years.


Most notably, the compact modernises the gaming industry through the authorisation of sports betting in Florida through the Tribe at its gaming venues in South Florida and Tampa, including the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa.


Te agreement also provides protections for pari-mutuel operations and the opportunity to participate in sports betting offered by the Tribe.


By some estimates, sports betting is expected to create over 2,200 jobs for Floridians. Deutsche Bank gaming analyst Carlo Santarelli said the announcement lacked detail about how many skins each licence would be allowed.


“Tis development confirms our view that any legalisation of sports betting will be done on terms of the Seminole tribe,” Mr. Santarelli said. “We believe there will be little to no opportunity for the public operators to play a role, given the Seminoles’ control.”

Ainsworth Game Technology has partnered with Konami Gaming to launch historical horse racing machines (HRMs) for Churchill Downs. Konami’s newly-engineered historical horse racing machines will operate on Ainsworth’s proprietary HRM System. Te machines will be deployed at CDI’s HRM facilities in Kentucky, including Derby City Gaming, Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel, and Newport Racing & Gaming. “We have maintained strong and mutually beneficial relations with CDI since Ainsworth developed the systems and led the opening of Derby City Gaming with nearly 1,000 games about two years ago,” said Ainsworth Chief Commercial Officer Deron Hunsberger. “Te addition of Konami content and platforms to our system will provide an even stronger product mix at the CDI properties.”


VIRGINIA – MGM National Harbor has unveiled its new an outdoor gaming terrace where guests can enjoy their favourite slot games in an unmatched setting complete with cocktail service.

VIRGINIA – Kindred Group has entered the next phase of its US expansion by adding Virginia to the list of successful entries in the fast growing US gambling market. Unibet Sports & Racebook will soon offer customers in Virginia a first-class online sportsbook experience.


Unibet Interactive, Kindred Group’s US arm, has been awarded a direct market access mobile sports betting permit in Virginia. After successful launches in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Indiana and with signed agreements for an additional eight states, Virginia will be a key state in Unibet´s East Coast expansion. Virginia is one of the largest states in the U.S. market and mobile sport betting is expected to reach over $370m in annual revenues at maturity.
