JUVENTUS STADIUM

Company: RCF Location: Turin, Italy

The inauguration of Juventus Stadium celebrated the end of the 2012 football sea- son with its team becoming the Serie A Champions. The RCF audio system was fundamental in broadcasting the emotions during the sport events and celebrations that will remain etched in the memories of Juventus fans for years to come. The stadium has a large seating capacity plus 120 executive boxes. It is the centre of a renewed area that also includes a large 34,000 sq metre commercial mall, the first Juventus Museum, a parking area and many other facilities. Thanks to the new stadium the fans have the possibility to enjoy a great new experience, hearing the players talking to each other, sitting comfortably on new seats and having a great view of the football pitch. The new Juventus Stadium is a major upgrade from the previous Stadio Olimpico. The Juventus Stadium is a modern facility equipped with audio solutions from RCF. The company’s commercial audio department has been involved in the project since the beginning and designed the total audio solution for

the stadium and for the other buildings in the complex. In addition to RCF products from the installed sound and commercial audio range, a number of unique products have also been developed to allow the project to run smoothly. “Being part of a large scaled installation and to have the possibility to be active in the process from the first drawings is important for a solution partner. This ensures that you will end up with the optimal result. With the new Juventus Stadium installation we have a nice reference that we can use for future stadium projects to support our distribu- tors and customers,” said Antonio Ferrari, RCF Market Manager Audio Contractor. For the Juventus Stadium project the RCF team worked out a special cluster design - which is certified in terms of safety - for each of the tribune sections of the stadium. Each cluster comprises two RCF Acustica H1315WPs, a three-way full range loudspeaker system that incorporates a 15-inch LF transducer, a 10-inch cone MF transducer and a 1.4-inch exit titanium compression driver. For the RCF project department the Juventus Stadium has been a large scale project involv- ing a lot of documentation, acoustical simulation and measurement. It’s a project that involved most of the company. It has been a great challenge but RCF is very satisfied with the end result. www.rcf.it

PALAIS OMNISPORTS MARSEILLE GRAND-EST

Company: Electro-Voice Location: Marseille, France

The Palais Omnisports Marseille Grand-Est is the latest and most modern compe- tition venue in a city known for its love of sporting entertainment. Marseille-based Objectif Plus was commissioned to design and install the stadium’s sound reinforcement system. The highest acoustic hurdle here - and one most ice rinks share - is the hall’s long reverberation time. “Obtaining clearly intelligible sound under such conditions posed a real challenge,” admitted Jean Marandet, Product & Service Manager with EVI Audio France. After comparing various offers, attending tests and studying simulations, the stadi- um management chose an Expandable Vertical Array (EVA) system from Elec- tro-Voice. The system installed comprises 26 EVA-2082S two-way array elements featuring two different dispersion patterns. The elements are flown in six arrays of four and five elements respectively – all in the same central location beneath the ceiling – and between them they provide 360° coverage. The EVA systems are complemented by two EVID 6.2 loudspeakers in the VIP lounges. The result is powerful, homogeneous coverage throughout the building. The loudspeakers are driven by four TG7 power amplifiers equipped with RCM-26 modules to allow remote control and supervision. Three CP3000S amplifiers and one PA2250T deliver added power and headroom. A Dx46 system processor operated using IRIS-Net software governs the entire installation and thanks to the above-men- tioned RCM-26 modules every individual signal can be controlled and monitored separately. In the adjacent skating park, too, it is Electro-Voice setting the tone, in the shape of six Electro-Voice PX1152M two-way monitors. These are employed in passive mode as down-fill. www.electrovoice.com
