Drew and his Co-Technical Director, Laurent Magne have had to op- portunity to sample a number of different sound systems so had a fair idea of what they wanted for the permanent installation. The pair se- lected Adamson, and Drew explained the reason behind the choice: “I’ve spent a great deal of time on the road, travelling the world as an FOH engineer and I’ve been lucky enough to use almost every make and model of PA system out there. I’ve had the opportunity to determine the strengths and weaknesses of those PA systems and Adamson often stood out as the PA that made me smile the most.” A brand new Adamson SpekTrix loudspeaker system - supplied by Adamson’s exclusive Canadian distributor, Theatrixx - was specifi ed for the Rialto Theatre, however, it was important that the PA did not interfere with the charismatic features of the auditorium. Drew said: “Since the theatre is a heritage building we weren’t able to cut into the walls or ceiling in the places we wanted. We had to make the best of our situation and adapt. We had to position cabinets not only where they would sound best but also where they would look best, and blend in with the design of the building.” The groundstacked PA system comprises eight Adamson SpekTrix 5º loudspeakers and two Adamson SpekTrix Sub double 18-inch cardioid subwoofers, split equally left and right of the stage. The loudspeakers are assembled on top of the subwoofers, while there is a single Adamson T-21 Sub bass cabinet built into the front of the stage to provide sub-bass extension to cover the fl oor level. A second Adamson SpekTrix line array system has been installed left and right of the balcony. Each cluster features an Adamson SpekTrix Sub subwoofer with an underhang of three Adamson SpekTrix 5º boxes. Drew said: “The installation was a challenge mostly because the lip of the balcony extends so close to the front edge of the stage. We had to split the array into two systems for the balcony and the ground fl oor in order to get good coverage everywhere in the room.” To complete the speaker package, a combination of Adamson M12 and M15 wedges are positioned onstage for monitoring purposes. Drew continued: “Adamson SpekTrix was a perfect fi t, as it is a
