While over on the Presonus stand mondo*dr was treated to a live demonstration of its StudioLive 32 mixer and new AI series live sound loudspeakers, which have been designed in conjunction with Fulcrum. Renkus Heinz’s new President Scott Leslie took part in a meet and greet session on the fi rst night of the show while introducing the VARIA loudspeaker systems, which have been designed for fl exibility and versatility. Electro-Voice showcased its ZLX passive two-way portable loudspeakers; while over on the RCF stand the focus was fi rmly on its TT (touring and theatre) range of loud- speakers. Building on the success of the A-16II personal mixer, Aviom presented its next generation A360 personal mixer, which aims to bring new levels of control and customisation to the personal monitoring experience with a number of new features. While NAMM is an exhibition dominated by audio, the lighting sector did have a pres- ence and suppliers American DJ and Chauvet had busy stands throughout the four days, with both showcasing relevant product lines for the market. My fi rst impression of NAMM is as I expected, it’s a fun show in the sun with a great atmosphere. But while the Californian’s might play hard they certainly work hard and this was evident from the packed aisles each day. While a large portion of the show wasn’t directly related to the pro audio and visual side of the business, the support from both domestic and international players in the industry reinforces that NAMM defi nitely holds an important place in the AV industry’s show calendar.
