remarcable.500-1000 habitants category groups at this census 48.8% of the settlements. The semnificative leap of almost 50% is determined by the increase of the natality in some villages but also by the demographical infusion of the villages included in their administrative teritoires. The Ercea village has a spectacular evolution of the inhabitant number, from 274 in 1912 to 568 in 1930. With some exceptions (Bala, Racova, Ohaba) all the other villages in this category registered surprising increases of the inhabitant number.
Only 8 villages fit between 1000 and 1500 inhabitans category, which is 10.3% of the settlements. The reduction is determined by placing some settlements into a higher rank classification (Ilovăţ, Şişeşti). Very interesting is the fact that even though they are still in the same size category most of them registered decreasings in the number of inhabitants as to the prevoius census. Only the Craguiesti village registered a slight evolution of the number of inhabitants due to the demographic natural increasing. The over 1501 inhabitants category consists of 3 settlements, all of them being important centres of local polarization and development. The Sovarna village is distinguished due to number for a village in this area.

The 1948 census notes the begining of the demographical decline in the villages from the Cosustea hills. The category of under 250 habitants gatheres now 30.5% of the human settlements. Stroiesti and Iupca villages register a major demographic decline
which brings them down from the 501-1000 inhabitants category. In the 251- 500 category are included 28.6% of the settlements, the decrease being produced by the previous group. Many villages reach/get to this category of the 501-1000 inhabitants group (Imoasa, Negresti, Cazanesti, Govodara, Ercea etc.). the 501-1000 inhabitants interval includes 31.4% of the settlements, the decrease in comparison with the last census being in the favour of the previous group.
The superior categories (1001-1500 and over 1501) encounter important changes. Only one settlement (Sistesti) exceeded 1501 inhabitants, and 9 settlements exceeded 1001 inhabitants, however the decrease of the inhabitant number is significant, these ones exceeding at the limit the threshold.
The 1956 census shows the emphasis of the previous phenomenon. Therefore, 27.6% of the settlements had a population under 250 inhabitants, and 31.4% between 251 and 500 inhabitants. For both categories there is a general decreasing of the inhabitant number. The same phenomenon also characterizes the superior categories where 33.3% of the villages have between 500 and 1000 inhabitants and only 7% between 1001 and 1500 inhabitants. Although Sistesti village encontered an important decrease of the inhabitant number, it is the only one which overpasses/exceeds the 1501 inhabitants threshold.
