DEALUL MARE AND THE NATURAL AND ACCELERATED EROSION IN THE STUDY “PENNON IN THE ROMANIA'S GEOMORPHOLOGY”
Mihai IELENICZ University of Bucharest
It is 100 years since the great scientist Victor Tufescu was born. Through his multiple achievements in Geography as professor at many uni- versities and researcher of the environment complexity, he contributed as- siduously to the development of this science nationally and internationally, to the formation of many generations of teachers and researchers, to the devel- opment of the geographical literature with precious studies. His scientific con- tributions, his exquisite pedagogic style based on flawless knowledge, his ex- citing presentations, and simple but complete and easy-to-follow schemes, his oratorical art with admirable words, phrases and intonation always filled the rooms, his proverbial calm in every dialogue or dispute, the depth of every discussion or analysis, the precise relations of understanding and supporting everybody, his veiled passivity while his soul wept because of the government injustice or some colleagues’ false kindness (“Lord forgive them for they know not what they are doing”), the direct and distinct elegance of his attire and be- haviour in the amphitheatre or within the groups he led, are only few special qualities that defined him and remained in the memories of those who knew him more or less. In addition, his scientific work is recognized for its values, detailed analysis of the environment components of every system from the points of view of their unity, structure, function and hierarchy. Lapidary, it ex- ceeds 300 titles (over 20 books of major importance) and many research re- ports, diverse geographic maps, popularity papers. All of these were achieved in time, due to a fine family and school education, a permanent contact with people of merit (in school, university, training courses abroad, working groups, etc.) and different situations, a distinct will, talent, knowledge perse- verance and perfecting. This scientific portfolio was remarkable in two fields – Geomorphology
and Human Geography research. Their characteristics are: the correlations between all the geographic components set apart hierarchically according to their spatial, temporal and functional importance, within the system structure, and the problems of present interest and necessity in establishing the envi- ronment evolution directions. Therefore this professor is not only a geomor-
