case study

I joined Neilson as part of my tourism

management degree in the

individuals with little or no experience to the point where they become out a fully-qualified Royal Yachting Association instructor.

Sales centre apprenticeships Neilson is also on a new journey of offering apprenticeships in business administration to its employees and future employees who wish to become one of the team. We work with a

company called Jump, working in partnership to offer opportunities to the young people who work in our sales centre and engage with our customers. While they are putting all the hard work in on the phones, they also work with Jump to achieve tasks that are linked to an NVQ in business administration. Once completed,

many of our apprentices go on to take full-time roles within the company, either

in the sales centre or elsewhere in the business.

Management courses Jump Up started as a seed to develop our overseas talent and turn them into our managers for the future. It was so well received, we introduced a more senior level called Jump Higher, which is associated with the Institute of Leadership Management and is a great platform to develop our managers in-house.

summer of 2005. I started in the restaurant and bar before finding my passion as an RYA windsurfing instructor. In the winter I worked in Bulgaria and France as a ski rep. After the summer of 2009 I worked in the sales centre, selling holidays, and was responsible for training new joiners. I am now part of the learning and development team. We support staff development and training across all overseas resorts and the head office departments. From how to make a booking on the computer system to ensuring service quality in our hospitality and active teams, we support those delivering training and strive to find ways for everyone to improve. There is always another challenge on the horizon. Winter is fast approaching and summer is just around the corner.
