Sören Stöber Business manager, Travelife
Sören started working at ABTA in August 2011. He manages ABTA’s Travelife (
travelife.org) business, which is a programme that promotes environmental and social improvements throughout the travel industry and its supply chain. Sören studied economics and philosophy in Germany. His first job was as a research assistant at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy. After that he spent a year in France working as a German language teaching assistant. A stint with Arcandor AG in Germany followed, working in its group communications and corporate responsibility team. He was then offered a secondment by Thomas Cook as head of sustainability for the group, based in the UK (a maternity-leave cover). While working full time for Thomas Cook in the UK he started studying a masters programme at the University of Cambridge. He was with Thomas Cook two and a half years before moving to London and ABTA to manage the Travelife start-up company. Sören graduated from Cambridge in sustainability leadership in 2012. Sören loves meeting people from different countries and being exposed to different cultures and languages. His job involves a lot
of travelling, and he says seeing new countries and destinations is an important bonus.
ABTA Partners
ABTA welcomes universities and colleges into our Partner programme. In 2014 the University of Surrey, Plymouth University and the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London have joined as ABTA Partners, while Leeds Beckett University, Manchester Metropolitan University and Bournemouth University have joined as Partner Plus Members. We work very closely with these institutions,
providing all the usual Partner scheme benefits, as well as an opportunity for ABTA to give a lecture to their students and advice where required. Each year, ABTA holds an All About ABTA seminar at which lecturers are invited to hear about developments at ABTA and in the industry. It is a great opportunity to get the very latest information and network with peers. All Partners can display the ABTA Partner
logo, so they benefit from our trusted brand. We also promote Partners businesses to a potential audience of 5,200 ABTA members and fellow Partners at ABTA events and in our publications (at a discounted rate) and on our website. Partners can advertise their special offers, events, expertise and industry training to ABTA travel agents and tour operators. At ABTA we value our Partners just as much as our Members. To see the list of Partner Benefits go to
