Jennifer Ashall is a customer experience executive at Shearings "
I have worked at Shearings in Wigan for six years, starting in reservations
while I was at college. After getting four A-levels, I got a
degree in psychology. I worked on our cruise ships – dealing with queries and helping to organise excursions and activities – and as a hostess on overnight coach holidays. My work in reservations and as a
hostess gave me invaluable experience for my current role in marketing. Each fortnight, I receive a review to
track progress and plan training, and I’ve completed first-aid courses and an internal tour manager/holiday representative course. I monitor customer experience
questionnaires to identify problems and fix them quickly and efficiently. Also, I am responsible for organising and running customer focus groups, which help us to keep doing the things our customers love. In my role as part of the marketing
team for hotels, I work with an internal and external team to design and produce all in-hotel and customer marketing. I enjoy the fast-paced life at Shearings and knowing that no two days will be the same. The team I work with plays a big part
– they are a great bunch of people who work incredibly hard. I’m very happy in my role and look forward to progressing my career in this area.
Ross Airson is cycle assistant at Center Parcs Woburn Forest "
I attended a Center Parcs job fair and signed up for job alerts. When
my current role was advertised, I applied and had a group interview. “I have BTEC Level 2 & 3 in Sport,
and Center Parcs enabled me to work towards a Cytech Level 2 qualification. “When I arrived for the first day, we had an empty Cycle Centre, and the village was being built. We did some team building then assembled 2,300 cycles before the village opened. Recently, I was involved in a cycle audit to calculate our fleet numbers. “I check returned cycles to ensure

they’re ready for the next guests. Guest service is a huge part of the role. We’re often some of the first
Center Parcs employees that our guests meet, so it’s important to give them a great experience. “I enjoy interacting with people and the hands-on work with the cycles, but another huge factor for me is the fact that Center Parcs has given so many local young people a great career opportunity. Everybody seems really happy to be here, which creates an enjoyable working environment. “Over the last nine months, I’ve settled in and now I’m thinking about a role in management, within the Cycle Centre or one of our other departments. Center Parcs provides a Management Training scheme that will help me.”
