FOREWoRD Your first step...

Life is an adventure that should be embraced by exploring this wonderful world, and learning from first-hand experiences. As we spend a lot of our lives

working, there are few better ways to make the most of our time on Earth than by forging a career

in travel, one of the world’s largest and most diverse industries. I am no stranger to the joys of travel, and have learned many of my greatest life lessons from working within the industry. I am therefore delighted to support this edition of Travel Weekly’s Take Off in Travel magazine – a guide that gives you an excellent taste of the career opportunities available in travel and tourism. At Virgin, we are proud to offer a number of travel

services. Our companies range from airlines, rail operators and travel agencies to tour operators, hotels and balloon flights. We are always looking to innovate and shake up the industry – cruise ships and space are our current focus. But while we may be involved in varying markets,

the one thing that unites all of our people is a shared passion and commitment to providing travellers with standout experiences. The travel industry has always been a rich source of inspiring leaders, entrepreneurs and individuals, who have the ability to think differently. A career in travel and tourism requires hard work, bright ideas and dedication – but also serves up a lot of fun! One of the best perks of my job is meeting young people from a range of backgrounds and cultures, all around the world. I am always impressed by the enthusiasm they demonstrate as they look to take the first steps in their careers. I hope Take Off in Travel inspires you to join us on an exciting and rewarding adventure.
