Extras These include parking, hotels, pri- vate lounges and luggage services. These companies sell ‘add-ons’ that make an airport experience more comfortable. Commercial teams ne- gotiate deals with the suppliers such as hotels. Web devel- opers are important for the online business. Other roles include those that manage sales through other travel companies.

Car Hire Within this sector there are car rental compa- nies such as Avis who supply the cars for people to rent. Then there are brokers or intermediaries such as


Holiday Autos, who market and sell car hire from a range of suppliers. These compa- nies will have product managers and com- mercial teams who ensure the products are marketed and negotiate deals and rates. Customer service and reservations staff take the bookings. Sales staff look after the business-to-business relationships with other travel firms and ensure these third parties sell as much of their product as possible.


Transfers These companies get passengers to and from their UK port or airport, or to and from their hotel in resort. In the UK, most of the companies offering trans- fers abroad are acting as an interme- diary and have agreements with local transfer companies in the resort. Roles include sales, commercial, web development and marketing.
