the last week. It was fun and a great challenge at times. Our team did get to walk away at the end of it with Captain Hemsley taking a medal away for being in the top 10 fastest time for the SPS. Topped off with a visit to the Umbrella bar after a hard day’s skiing, a trip to be remembered and a must visit for those who haven’t been before. Additionally, meeting new people within the AGC outside of the office was a fantastic opportunity.
Op TEAMWORK – Unit Female Focus Group and Well-Being Session By Staff Sergeant Jennifer Garraway
On 14th July 2022, 3rd (United Kingdom) Division Signal Regiment held it’s first female well-being group as part of Op TEAMWORK run by SSgt Jennifer Garraway. The focus group aimed to bring females across the Regiment together in one forum, enabling a safe space for voices to be heard and create a support network. Traditional focus group formats have consisted of simply allowing those attending to vent. However, as most will be aware the initial vent is rarely the core of the problem, and thus adopting a different approach to remove the emotion to see the truth clearly, empowered the CoC with the tools to make a real difference to the lived experience of females within the unit. The event included a session of sound meditation using crystal sound bowls, drumming, chimes, and music to help relax the mind, body, and soul. This process focused on different sounds and enabled participants to enter a deeper state of relaxation. The end state supported each participant to enter into discussion in a calm, relaxed
and open- minded state, enabling truth over emotion to be discussed, enhancing the ability to identify solutions and trends that
benefited not only the morale of the female members of the Unit but the overall Operational effectiveness. The
session concluded with a sharing circle, a symbol of respect for the thoughts, stories, and individual histories. Where a person speaks from the heart without interruption.
Trailwalker Challenge 2022 By Corporal Rabin Gurung
Trailwalker is the ultimate team endurance event. The challenge is to walk, jog or run 100km non-stop across the South Downs Way in under 30 hours in a team of four, with support crew on hand to help the team to reach the finish line. The event has been organised every year since 1981 and helps raise funds for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust. This year, members from the detachment took on this

challenge and completed the trail in 21 hours and 4 minutes.
Yet another eventful year for the detachment. With members being deployed away on exercises in the UK and overseas, providing much needed administrative support to the Regiment, we have also ensured there have been plenty of opportunities to get away and do some fun activities throughout.
