3rd (United Kingdom) Division Signal Regiment
“Work hard, play hard” has been the mantra for 3rd (United Kingdom) Division Signal Regiment SPS detachment this year, with numerous exercise deployments conducting both Soldier first activity and trade specific roles, as well as ample opportunity to indulge in fun adventurous training activities.
Exercise LION SUN 3 – Cyprus By Private Ella Price
In February 2022, I deployed on Exercise LION SUN 3 to Cyprus with the Regiment, a level Charlie Overseas Training Exercise with the aim to exercise up to dismounted light role infantry context, including Live Fire Marksmanship Training package. As a Pte soldier at my first unit, it was great to experience what the Corps and Army had to offer with a variety of activities to take part in coupled with leaving the winter in England and travelling to sunny Cyprus. Upon arriving in the area we conducted reconnaissance, maintaining battlefield discipline throughout and persevering through lack of sleep at early hours of the morning to locate the enemy before light. Moving through an unknown terrain in the dark, taking each step carefully whilst moving quickly and being aware of what was around - a lot to think about indeed. Checking up on those by your side was crucial, this can be both mentally and physically challenging as everyone reacts to conditions and being away from home differently. The exercise also included battlefield casualty drills whilst going through several section attacks. The exercise concluded with a period of Adventurous Training and Multi-Sports activities, providing an opportunity for us to relax and unwind before travelling back to the UK.

maintained to an excellent condition. The visit provided a unique learning opportunity away from Barracks that stimulated and inspired the RAO Detachment in many military aspects of life.

of this visit was to explore the historic Palace of Westminster and Apsley House to attain a rich, interactive focus that will make for an enjoyable educational visit. The visit to the Houses of Parliament was a great opportunity to understand how the business and traditions of the House of Commons and the House of Lords contribute to the day-to-day workings of the UK Parliament. It was a unique experience for us to walk around Parliament and understand the rich history of the Palace of Westminster, as it provided context to the daily life in the parliaments. The Apsley House, home of the first Duke of Wellington, was an incredible opportunity to walk in the footsteps of countless great minds. Apsley House was filled with works of art and gifts from grateful rulers across Europe. It was fascinating to witness the arts and gifts which were dated few centuries ago were still kept and
This year 3rd (United Kingdom) Division Signal Regiment’s SPS team set out to take part in Exercise WHITE LION and conquer the slopes in Neustift, Stubai Glacier for two weeks. Private Sushan Rimal, Private Lydia Ketley, Captain Paul Hemsley and I wanted to challenge ourselves and learn a new skill whilst getting to meet other AGC personnel in a friendly environment. With three of us in the team being novices, we had to learn different skiing techniques as well as getting used to falling regularly! From learning the pizza and chips technique to mastering turning on the slopes gracefully before putting all our efforts into racing the slaloms on
