30th Anniversary exhibition.
School and unit visits have increased this year. Units can visit the museum for free, with the choice of self-guided time, a staff-led guided tour or a presentation on a specific topic related to the AGC or its antecedents. This year we also hosted an away day. Please contact the museum for more details or to book a visit- we are always happy to see you! As part of the 30th Anniversary celebrations, AGC Museum staff attended the Corps Family Day with a stall. The stall consisted of a number of pieces of uniform from across the AGC and its antecedents’ history, for families to handle and try on. They very much enjoyed themselves, and we look forward to coming back with our banner and handling collection next time.
2022 marked the death of Queen Elizabeth II. A small display of objects was created to mark her affiliation with the Corps, from her service in the ATS to her time as the AGC’s Colonel- in-Chief and her opening of the AGC Museum in 2003. The Museum also supplied information on her service with the ATS to Army Historical Branch, which was used as part of Op LONDON BRIDGE.
In the next year we are hoping to begin to digitise the Museum’s collection to reduce the amount of times objects are handled. This will mean that more of the collection will be available digitally, for use on the website and on touchscreens in the museum. We will also be able to have archival material on hand for research in the museum. The temporary exhibition next year will look at other areas of operation during the Second World War, namely North Africa, Malta and the invasion of Sicily and the wider fighting in Italy. How can you support
us? Donations of objects, visiting us and donating second-hand military related books!
As always, please get in contact if you want to visit or are looking to donate to the museum. We look forward to seeing you all in 2023!
