British Forces Cyprus 30th AGC Anniversary

By Warrant Officer Class 2 (SQMS) Lois Farmer

British Forces Cyprus AGC(SPS) Branch were the organisers for the AGC 30th Anniversary. We put together an event that could be attended by all AGC personnel in Cyprus, also for it to be fun and an opportunity for us all to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the AGC.

The event was in two parts: day activities and then an evening function. We were extremely lucky to have some special visitors who travelled over to Cyprus to celebrate with us. We hosted Col Victoria Whiting (Corps Col), Lt Col Sally Ehlen (Comd SPS), WO1 Wayne Heathcote (Corps SM), and WO1 (SSM) Teasdale, Regional Command.

Day Activities – Day on the Beach The first part of the celebration was held at the Military Training Wing on Tunnel Beach, Episkopi. The team put together a water sports activity package which included, paddleboarding, culture boat trip, kayaking, inflatables, and fun water rides.

All personnel were given the opportunity to attend and take some time to enjoy the day on the beach in the Cypriot sun. During the paddleboarding, a huge turtle was seen by those who took participated, and this led to a great deal of excitement and conversation about the sighting. Plenty of fun was had on the inflatables and water rides and the fun packed day ended with a lovely BBQ of local fresh meats and salads.
