AGC Training Development Team

By Major Graham Doyle

What we do The Training and Development Team advise on, set the requirement for and externally evaluate individual training for the Staff and Personnel Support, Royal Military Police, Military Provost Staff, Military Provost Guard Service, Army Legal Services and Educational and Training Services. This role is critical to continuous improvement, ensuring that appropriate training is delivered efficiently and effectively to the right personnel at the right time in their career and in a safe manner.

The Team

I have recently taken over from Major Erik Smith as the TDT Officer Commanding/Learning Development Adviser. The team is made up of analysts and support staff. Captain Laura Bettison is our Senior Analyst responsible for Educational and Training Services and Army Legal Services training development. Staff Sergeants Douglas Asante and Talica Domole are responsible for Staff and Personnel Support training development and Staff Sergeant Michael Wallis is responsible for Royal Military Police, Military Provost Staff and Military Provost Guard Service training development. Most importantly, all of the team’s activities are supported by our two Civil Servants: John Middleton our Training Audit and Assurance Officer and Sam Banda, our Project Support Officer. They have provided the much-needed continuity for the team as it experienced the usual summer turnover of military staff.

Projects and Events This has been a busy period for the team’s analysts. Our Senior Analyst has finalised the Educational and Training Services’ Competency Framework. Our Staff and Personnel Support analysts have provided ongoing support to meet the new direction set out by the Personnel Admin Capability Review. The team has continued to support Corps Headquarter activities, leading the organisation of the Triple

Crown Challenge in Apr 2022 and have started again on the organisation for May 2023.

Opportunities

Although the team are often busy conducting specialised and project-based work there is a good work/life balance, you might even get a chance to join the Corps HQ Benchball Team, the current champions of Worthy Down Camp. Working in the TDT offers a great insight into the operating environment of the Adjutant General’s Corps.
