1 Signal Regiment By Sergeant Francis Sey

Families’ Day.

Families’ Day The 1st Signal Regiment RAO’s department volunteered to organize the unit’s first ever Families Day. The day celebrated the Regiment’s output and brought together all Regimental personnel and their families for a much-needed celebration after Covid 19.

It goes without saying the Army is fully embedded in the communities we serve; Local farmers and small-scale businesses were invited to display their products and services.

For some, it was a cherished moment celebrating their achievements with their families and for others it provided an opportunity to get involved in a ‘dunk tank challenge’ which saw the Commanding Officer and other Senior Officers participate and get wet - a perfect way to promote teamwork and esprit de corps.

Overall, a great day and it is safe to say the 1SR Det certainly set the bar high for next year.

The ‘MOMO’ Challenge – Team Cohesion Day We were visited by 20 Brigade SO2 and VWOs as part of our resubordination to 20 Brigade. It was a great opportunity to host our new Head of Arm. The day started with a brief icebreaker and culminated in a team cohesion event “Momo Challenge” consisting of showing how to make a legendary Momo. Once mastered we went straight into competition mode with the Detachment winning on a home advantage.

Tedworth House – Gardening Our Detachment remains committed to supporting the community in diverse ways and one of the highlights of the year was a visit to Tedworth House, the home of Help for Heroes Recovery Centre for wounded and sick personnel and veterans. Everyone who came along had a great day, interacting with the residents and most importantly conducted some housekeeping in the Gardening. This experience was hugely fulfilling and inspiring - making a difference to the lives of our soldiers that are experiencing on going health conditions.
