Unit 2, Lesson 1, Task 1 STUDENT 1: Where’s Engineering? GUY: Civil or Electronic? STUDENT 1: Electronic.
GUY: That’s in Computing in the north of the campus, a three-storey building next to Chemistry, see, here. STUDENT 2: What about Geology?
GUY: Between Petroleum Engineering and Environmental Science, in the east of the campus. STUDENT 3: I’m looking for Management and Accounting.
GUY: They’re both in the Business School. That’s the large complex behind the library, on South Avenue. STUDENT 4: Where can I find a computer to use?
GUY: There are open-access computer labs in most buildings. Look for these computer signs. I think the nearest one is in the library, just there on the right.
STUDENT 5: We need to see Professor Watson. GUY: Which department? STUDENT 6: Biology. GUY: That’s in the Environmental Science Building, on the top floor.
STUDENTS: The Amartya Sen Lecture Theatre? Alan Turing Laboratories? Hydrology Workshop?
GUY: Wait, wait! Sen is in the Business School, ground floor. Just walk through the library. Turing Labs are in Computer Science, but I’m not sure which floor. Hydrology is in the Civil Engineering Institute, that’s on another site, not this campus. But there’s a free shuttle bus from in front of the students’ union, opposite the library – do you see the bus stop there?
Unit 2, Lesson 5, Task 4 CHEN: Hi, Guy. You look worried. Is something wrong? GUY: Not really, I have to see my tutor, Dr Malik, this afternoon, that’s all. CHEN: Isn’t he very friendly?
GUY: No, he’s OK, but I didn’t study very well last year and I know he’s going to give me a hard time. He says I have to change. CHEN: Why, what happened last year? GUY: I failed my exams last May – had to do resits, that’s why I’m back early. CHEN: Resits?
GUY: Take my exams again. I was a bit lazy and I wasted time. I missed some lectures and I never went into the library because I thought I could find everything on the Internet. I didn’t hand in drafts to my lecturers so I didn’t get much feedback. I thought that if I just met the final
