Algaktiv reveals anti-hair loss, anti-greying active

Spanish personal care ingredient maker Algaktiv has taken the wraps off Densidyl, an anti-hair loss and anti-hair greying active. The product leverages

advanced microalgae technology to offer unparalleled protection and rejuvenation for hair follicles, setting new standards in hair care. Algaktiv says Densidyl

represents a significant breakthrough in hair care, combining the potent antioxidant properties of phycocyanin from

Spirulina maxima and the stress- modulating effects of xanthophylls from Chlorella emersonii. For hair stimulation, Densidyl

demonstrated a fourfold increase in hair length compared to EGF and a twofold increase compared to Minoxidil – the pharma molecule of reference - after just seven days of treatment in cultured human hair follicles. For hair loss reduction, in a five-

month clinical study involving a large panel of 50 volunteers (both men

Dyson makes move into hair care

ingredient research British tech company Dyson is making a move into cosmetic ingredient research with the launch of two hair care products made using chitosan derived from oyster mushrooms. Chitosan, a complex macromolecule found

in the cell walls of the mushroom, is the basis of Dyson’s first ever hair styling products: Chitosan Pre-Style Cream and Chitosan Post-Style Serum. Through research, Dyson has sourced a

version of chitosan from oyster mushrooms. “Our engineers have rigorously tested to

find the optimum percentage of chitosan for all-day, flexible hold, while maintaining natural movement,” said Kathleen Pierce, President of Beauty at Dyson. Chitosan Pre-Style

Cream, which consists of four variations: Straight to Wavy (Light and Rich Conditioning) and Curly to Coily (Light and Rich Conditioning), also contains grapeseed, castor and argan oils plus beeswax to fight frizz and enhance shine. Meanwhile, Chitosan

Post-Style Serum, designed to repair surface damage, is enhanced with hyaluronic acid to fight humidity- induced frizz. Both products are designed

to be used with Dyson’s first connected beauty device, the Airwrap i.d. multi-styler and dryer, which integrates Bluetooth technology for a more personalized styling experience.

and women suffering from stress- related hair loss), Densidyl showed a 25.9% increase in hair in anagen phase (the growing phase) and an 11.43% increase in hair density, representing an average of 10,200 new hairs. For pigmentation recovery,

volunteers experienced a significant reduction in grey hair, with visibly improved natural hair colour and overall scalp health. For scalp moisturization, the product increased scalp

moisturization by 26.7%, enhancing overall scalp health and appearance. “Algaktiv Densidyl’s innovative

approach underscores our commitment to developing cutting-edge, sustainable, and highly effective hair care solutions,” said marketing director Alexandre Lapeyre.

“This product not only meets but

exceeds the expectations of modern consumers who seek both efficacy and environmental responsibility.”
