sunscreens with either organic or mineral sun filters and BENTONE GEL® technology were tested in-vitro and in-vivo. The ideal dispersion of UV filters in the sunscreens and the improved structure and rheology of the system with BENTONE GEL® technology leads to a boost in SPF independent of the UV filter system. The same phenomenon can be seen with
sun care formulations containing BENTONE® LUXE technology in vitro and in vivo. Sun care products need to be long- lasting including a resistance to wash off. In a very simple approach, a formulation with BENTONE® LUXE XO is applied as thin film on a glass plate. The water droplets from the formulation with BENTONE® LUXE XO keep their shape when applied on the film, demonstrating enhanced indicative water resistance. Water droplets placed on the film of the control formulation without BENTONE® LUXE XO spread out and disrupted the film indicating poor hydrophobicity. In vitro studies were conducted to
determine the SPF before and after two water immersion steps for 20 min each. A hybrid sun care formulation based on BENTONE® LUXE technology not only indicated a boosted SPF before water immersion but after water
