Mum’s the word for Eckart

German speciality ingredient supplier Eckart has unveiled Mum Beauty, six easy-to-implement formulations for various cosmetic products that meet the needs of millions of women. Mum Beauty shows how

effect pigments can be used in formulations to achieve the desired effect very quickly and easily for mothers of all skin colours. The new collection is also designed according to the trend for hybrid beauty products. These multifunctional cosmetics are designed to cover as many requirements as possible in one product. The formulations include lip-

to-cheek stick Cheer Me Up!, which beautifies and cares for lips and cheeks in equal measure - and are easy on both the environment and the budget. The number of makeup

products needed is thus reduced. The stars of the new trend

concept are the effect pigments from Eckart’s Syncrystal product family. They are included in every

formulation and, depending on requirements, provide instant effects, effective colour balance and fresh glow. “Effect pigments are the perfect

partners for moms’ makeup: they create radiant eyes, glossy lips and a shimmering complexion in no time at all,” said head of technical service cosmetics Michaela Gerstacker.

Kao sweetens surfactant

Kao Chemicals Europe has launched Akypo Sugar LM 42, a mild, performing and sustainable anionic surfactant for cleansing formulations. The company says it provides outstanding mildness for skin and hair, and good lathering, which makes it ideal to formulate shampoos, body washes, facial cleansers, and baby care products. Additionally, it has a low dependency on pH, which allows it to maintain good transparency, foaming, and easy thickening

properties even at acidic pH levels. "Akypo Sugar LM 42 (is) an

excellent choice to successfully develop sulphate-free formulations, even if it is used as primary or secondary surfactant," said a Kao spokesman.

Seppic reveals tara study

Seppic has revealed the effectiveness of its Solagum Tara hair care ingredient as an alternative to hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC). Solagum Tara (INCI: Caesalpinia

Spinosa Gum), derived from tara seeds, demonstrates equivalent performance to HEC while offering a better profile in terms of naturalness and sensoriality. Formulated as a rinsed hair

mask, Seppic says Solagum Tara offers a smoother, more beautiful,

less lumpy texture. In a more minimalist formulation

approach, Solagum Tara is also an ally of choice for hair formulations because, in addition to thickening, it plays a role in controlling volume and frizz in curly hair care, it added. Made from Caesalpinia spinosa

(italics) gum, Solagum Tara is 100% natural origin according to the ISO 16128 standard and easily biodegradable according to the OECD 301F standard.
